Cody Robinson, 2023 Star Student
Calhoun County High School senior Cody Robinson has been named the school’s 2023 PAGE STAR Student. Ms. VanEssa Lewis, school counselor of Calhoun County Schools and the local STAR program sponsor, announced the honor. Cody selected Mr. Williamson Mesamours as his STAR Teacher. Mr. Mesamours has taught Foreign Language at CCHS for the past five years. Robinson, the son of Walter and Bridgett Robinson of Leary, Georgia, earned the STAR Student recognition for academic achievement and performance on the SAT. Cody ranks 1st of 40 seniors at Calhoun County High School and scored 1270 on his SAT.
Announcing his choice of Star Teacher Cody said, “I chose Mr. Mesamours as my star teacher because he always tries to push us to do more in class and helped us understand the material better.
In describing Cody, Mr. Mesamours said he was the coolest student he has ever taught. “Cody does so well in his studies but more than that, he pushes the teacher to do their best and to bring better lessons to the students. He asks for more information, digs deeper and goes further in the subject. Cody is quite spirited, that's how he excels at whatever he does.”
The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) is sponsored, administered and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE). Created by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce in 1958 and now in its 65th year, the program has honored nearly 29,000 students and the teachers selected as the most influential to their academic achievement. High school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average to qualify for STAR nomination.
As Calhoun County Star Student, Cody will compete for region honors. Region winners contend for the honor of being named State PAGE STAR Student. STAR Teachers continue on with their STAR Students at every level of the program.
The faculty and staff of CCHS are very proud of Mr. Cody Robinson and Mr. Williamson Mesamours and the academic excellence they exemplify at Calhoun County High School.
