Newly appointed Superintendent Dr. Shereca Harvey addressed the faculty and staff upon returning to begin the new semester. She welcomed staff back and praised them for the accomplishments of the first semester. Outlining the direction and her vision for the future of Calhoun County Schools Harvey said, "We will make our decisions based on needs and those which will have a positive impact for our children."  The floor was opened to answer questions from the staff where a question was raised about the timeline for the new school. "Ground breaking for the new school will be determined, after all of this rain, by the weather. I have been told the construction company is planning to begin in late January or early February." she answered. Before dismissing the faculty Harvey told the group, "As your Superintendent, I want to hear and know of your needs and concerns. I will be speaking to you individually but if you feel you need to speak with me before I am able to see you, then please call my office and I will make arrangements to talk with you earlier."

Dr. Harvey was named interim Superintendent in the 2018 July BOE meeting and appointed as Superintendent of CCSS at the December BOE meeting.
